About Leiden University Press
Welcome to Leiden University Press (LUP). LUP publishes, in print, electronic and digital form, the vast potential of materials produced and/or used by scholars and professionals in the humanities, social science, science, medicine, law and archaeology. As an academic publisher LUP looks to serve a global community with publications both in print and digital form of authoritative works that are relevant to academic, professional and trade markets.
LUP is part of Leiden University with headquarters and staff at the Leiden University and Leiden University Library. Service Centre for Production, International Sales & Distribution, and Open Access Development are based in the offices of Amsterdam University Press in Amsterdam. LUP aims to propose and promote policy positions and standards important to scholarly and professional publishers and may help finding funding for projects related to these objectives.
The core of the LUP publications consists of peer reviewed material that deals with matters of interest relevant to research and education in the Leiden University Research Profiles: new research and digital issues of concern to scholars, scientists and students. Core activities and services covered in the close cooperation with the services of AUP are international representation, distribution and sales.
Policy and Editorial Board
The LUP policy is set by the Executive Board. There is an Editorial Board composed by the Rector Magnificus and the Deans of the Faculties. Publisher Anniek Meinders, maintains an office in Leiden and one in Amsterdam with professional support of her staff members.
LUP is an international university press with an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and the center of a vibrant community of authors. As a result of the strong connection with the Leiden University Library, a focus will be on the digital accessibility and retrievability of published work, for instance through Open Access projects and by the gathering and dessiminating research and manuscripts at the Leiden Repository.
