Prior to publication, all manuscripts are assessed by an independent Editorial Advisory Board and external specialist readers to ensure the highest academic standards. Combined with a service-oriented and personal approach this peer review process defines our publishing policy.
To guarantee the quality of our publications and maintain international academic standards, all titles are submitted to peer review. Leiden University Press presents all new proposals and manuscripts considered for publication to an independent Editorial Advisory Board for initial assessment.
Following a positive response from the Editorial Advisory Board, the final manuscript will be sent to two specialist readers for expert advice. The publishing decision depends on the advice of the reviewers and the Editorial Advisory Board and cannot be contested.
In case of a positive decision, authors/editors will receive a proposal for publication and financing. In some cases the authors may be asked to revise the work before receiving a final proposal for publication. In case of a negative review, Leiden University Press will not publish your manuscript.
